Communications

The Communications Committee works with all committees to insure our and our partner groups’ Zero Waste message and events get out to as wide a group as possible. It is responsible for the website, newsletter, two directories and social media. All members are  welcome to join the committee to learn and help.

We need volunteer researchers, reporters and photographers, as well as help with small tasks such as populating the events calendar and Jobs In Recycling showcase, and finding relevant information to showcase. Newcomers are welcome; it is a wonderful way to get involved with NCRA.  Could be as little as 1-4 hours a month. Please send a note via the Contact Page.

Website: This website has been designed to be easy for non-programmers to add content to. It was developed in WordPress in 2014 by a few members of the Communications Committee – Portia Sinnott with assistance from our web consultant Chris Sparnicht of Laughter On Water, Laura McKaughan and early on by Diedre Tubb. The Board has been trained and each committee is now responsible for its own page(s) and timely posts. Using special contact forms, members can easily submit event listings and announcements.

Newsletter: The NCRA News is a benefit of membership. Published monthly, the newsletter is available in the Members Only area as a downloadable pdf. An abbreviated version with “Read more…” links and the pdf version is sent to members monthly via email. In the future, sample or quarterly public versions will be available here.

Directories: The Members Directory with emails and phone numbers is sent out with the January newsletter and posted as a pdf in the website Members Only Area. An internal document, it should not be distributed to non-members. Members who  don’t want their contact information listed must say so by December 31. The Services Directory aka NCRA Members Who Provide Goods and Services Directory is available publicly on the website. Inclusion is optional and businesses may select from a variety of categories. Check it out!

Social Media: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram… NCRA has it all and need help managing it.
