NCRA's Recycling Update 2010– 15th Annual Conference

Get from out-of-touch to up-to-date in one day as Northern California Recycling Association' s 15th annual Recycling Update presents a bevy of knowledgeable professionals who take 10 minutes each to tell what's happening and what works in the world of resource recovery. We offer what Jerry Powell calls “the best program of its type in the country,” and, as always, at a below market price.

Recycling Update XIV will take place on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 8:30am - 4:30pm in downtown Oakland at 1515 Clay Street. The event includes a catered lunch.
Recycling Update Registration
Registration Fees (All registration fees includes meals):
Register early and save!
Register on or before March 17th:
o NCRA members: $70 (plus $5 PayPal charge if registration completed online)
o Non-members: $90 (plus $5 PayPal charge if registration completed online)
Register after March 17th or on-site:
o NCRA members: $85 (plus $5 PayPal charge if registration completed online)
o Non-members: $105 (plus $5 PayPal charge if registration is completed online)
On-site registration will begin at 7:30am, and on-site payments may be made with cash or checks only. No IOUs will be accepted!
For those registering online and paying by cash or check, payment is required before entering the conference (at the door). We will NOT be invoicing for payment after the event, so be sure to bring a check or cash to the event if you don't pre-pay.
Cancellation Policy
A full refund, minus a $10 nonrefundable processing fee, is available for cancellations received 48 hours prior to the event. Cancellations received within 48 hours of the event are nonrefundable. If you need to cancel, please contact us via email.

Scholarships
Because of a small (though generous) grant from Pacific Rim Recycling in Benecia, the Northern California Recycling Association is able to once again offer free admission to our annual RECYCLING UPDATE conference to all eligible students in high schools, as well as community and four year colleges and universities in Northern California. Up to 100 students are eligible for these appointments. All students will join in the lunch without charge and transportation assistance will be available on a case-by-case basis, mostly reserved for out-of-town guests. Please e-mail event coordinator, Arthur "Robin" Boone for more information and include the subject line: RU Scholarship Inquiry. Please include your name, contact phone number, your school or university name and location, and any other information you feel we have in considering your request. If your request has been granted, please click on "Register using cash/check" and fill in the form noting that you are on scholarship. Thank you.
Volunteers
Those who may be unable to afford the registration costs may receive a scholarship to the day's events in exchange for some volunteer efforts at the event. Email Board Member Teresa Bradley (teresa@revolutionarygreenevents.com ) if you would like to volunteer with meal setup and takedown.

· Larry Buckle, P.E. Organic Energy Corporation, Sacramento. Looking at price per processed ton in AD facilities. He thinks price will be important in defining role of European technologies in USA markets.
· Ananda Tan of GAIA staff on the revival of “incinerators in disguise,” and what kinds of vigilance will be useful.
· Rebecca Ryals, post-doctoral student and assisting scientist on the Marin Carbon Project (www.marincarbonproject.org), on the effects of carbon applications to rangeland.
· Nicole Tai, “Developing the Reuse Alliance.” Ms Tai is the Northern California Developer of the Deconstruction and Reuse Network.
· Xico Manarolla at ICLEI: Local Communities for Sustainability on their process for revising the Community GHG Reductions Protocol.
