NCRA PLAYERS
Roll Over, ‘Point of Return’!
If you thought ‘Point of Return,’ NCRA’s video documentary on recycling’s role in the Pacific Rim, was NCRA’s only video offering—guess again!
The NCRA Video Catalog just tripled with the release of the two volume set of NCRA Players oeuvre including:
Volume 1, The long lost original version of The Circle of Snakes
This tape was presumed lost and gone forever, but the original surfaced earlier this year. NCRA Players original production at the Palace of Fine Arts from the 1999 CRRA Conference awards banquet with a Maltese Falcon, film noir style show that brought it all together (most of the time, anyway).
See...
Xera Waste, Suzy Mummidaddi, the Man in the Barrel and other unforgettable characters including the Best Brothers Detectives including Rick Best in his premier. Bob Besso as the Poacher is worth the price of admission in itself.
Thrill...
to the clever (mostly intelligible) dialogue, See stage sets of the antique garbage trucks, marvel at the stream of technical glitches.
Added Feature: Landfill Caps Beach Blanket Babylonesque 2004 NRC Show
Includes all the songs, the gags, the festivities—MINUS the awards presentations. The 3R Sisters—Ruth Abbe, Heidi Melander, and Stefanie Pruegel-- deliver their waste reduction ditties with verve and flavor. This show includes appearances by the new powerful addition to the cast—Rory Bakke as Glenda. Hear Shana Levy’s Landfill Song, which is fast becoming the national anthem of recycling. Not to be missed is Governator Arnold Schwarzengger joining the fray and singing along with the Sisters. Volume 2, A three-production rendition of NCRA Players Shows that includes:
Everyone Comes To Rick’s Place
This knockout number takes on Casablanca as only NCRA Players can do. All original material that sends up everybody in Oakland from Bob Dylan to the Oakland Raiders to guest appearance by Mayor Jerry Brown who joins the 3Rsisters in “Don’t Knock Oakland.”
Additional footage by cameraman Brian Belsardi shows hilarious rehearsal segments and back stage banter. Sadly, this was Rick Best’s last show.
Mr. Chesbro Goes To Sacramento
NCRA Players send-up of Sen. Wesley Chesbro (John Hanscom) in a Jimmy Stewart style rendition at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. We trace the career of the young Senator arriving in the capitol, his temptations, frustrations, and eventual triumphs in this politically topical farce replete with song and gag, steam engines, and a 20’ tall Willie Brown puppet.
Waste Side Story
NCRA Players most extended show that unfurled over 3 days at the 2003 CRRA Ontario onference. A take off of West Side Story, complete with warring gangs of Recyclers versus Zero Wasters, cross cultural love story and the debut of sexy Hotta Rot, Stefanie Pruegel’s show stopping chanteuse who has kept hearts pounding from Calexico to the Oregon border.
And, What’s more!
These shows are available in VHS and/orDVD. For the suggested donation of $15 each volume (shipping/handling included). Own all the shows. Write, call or email NCRA for your copies right away. Send cash, check or money order to NCRA, baby. No CODs please.
